Popular holiday in Vietnam. If you want a beach holiday in Hanoi

We describe and compare the best resorts and beaches in Vietnam - famous and not so famous. Reviews of tourists and personal experience from traveling around the country. Map of Vietnam in Russian with resorts. Choose where it is better to go to rest!

Which resorts in Vietnam can have a good rest? Let's try to figure it out by considering the most popular tourist destinations in the country.

Vietnam resorts:

Nha Trang

When to go. Best place to stay in Nha Trang spring and summer. The rainy season begins in October - strong winds blow, and the sea is worried. In winter, it is uncomfortable because of the waves, but they are not always there. We rested in the winter - this is a great time for excursions and trips around the area!

How to book a hotel? You can find a convenient accommodation option for yourself on the well-known Roomguru.ru service - the site compares the prices of various booking systems and finds the best one.

Cam Ranh

Cam Ranh is a small seaside village located in the bay of the same name. The most famous beach is Bai Zai, people often come here from neighboring Nha Trang.

The beach is only 30 meters wide, but very long, with fine sand and a gentle entrance. There are restaurants and hotels on the shore, on the beach you can rent a sun lounger with an umbrella and go water skiing.

When to go. The climate is the same as in Nha Trang, so come in spring and summer.

Phu Quoc

Where is it better to go to Vietnam if you want a relaxing beach holiday? Phu Quoc Island is a quiet resort, diving and snorkeling center. , interesting underwater world, clean water and warm climate. The infrastructure is actively developing, but there is no nightlife, and there are few attractions. Although, which will not leave you indifferent.

Mui Ne and Phan Thiet

The narrow 17-kilometer resort area between Phan Thiet and the fishing village of Mui Ne is simply called Mui Ne. This is a jumble of hotels, souvenir shops, bokeh (seafood cafes), travel agencies and pharmacies. Most of the hotels are located on the first line. The best beaches are occupied by expensive hotels, worse areas are budget ones. We did not like the beaches of Mui Ne - they are mostly dirty. Everywhere shallow water and waves, so do not buy. But in the district there are interesting sights: red and white dunes, Fairy Stream.

When to go. There are no strong climatic swings here, as in the northern resorts of Vietnam. However, it is best to rest during the dry period - November to April. Strong winds blow most of the time, so kiters and surfers love this place. They prefer to rest from January to March, when the sea waves are high. From April to the end of autumn, the sea becomes a little calmer.

Danang

Among Russians, this resort in Vietnam is almost unknown (everyone goes to Nha Trang, Mui Ne and Phu Quoc), the Vietnamese rest here. The city is large and modern, with spacious streets and not too much traffic, so it is convenient to learn how to ride a bike.

The best beaches of Da Nang with white sand and a gentle entrance to the sea are Bak My An and My Khe. Entrance is free, the infrastructure is quite developed. The coastline is wide and long, you can collect a lot of beautiful shells.

A small minus is the remoteness of the center from the tourist area. There are no big supermarkets on the coast. There are no city buses, you need to go to the center by bike or taxi.

When to go. The high season is short - it's better to relax April to June, when it is already warm enough, and there are low waves on the sea. It rains from summer until the end of the year, and winds rage in winter. We rested in Da Nang in winter: the city and the beach were deserted, but this has its own charm. A strong wind was blowing, big waves were rising on the sea, a red flag was put up on the beaches, and sometimes it was drizzling. In the low season, almost all cafes in the tourist zone are closed, and sometimes it is not easy to find inexpensive food: the Vietnamese, seeing single tourists, raise prices.

If you are looking for the best place to relax in Vietnam with children, then pay attention to Hoi An - the entrance to the sea is gentle there. The best beach is An Bang (the other, Cua Dai, was destroyed by sea erosion and is being restored). Beaches with fine light sand and in some places developed infrastructure. Parking is paid.

Hoi An has beautiful old architecture. From the city it is convenient to visit the Marble Mountains - for example, we went there by bicycle (rent costs only $ 1 per day).

Of the minuses - Hoi An stands on the river, and you need to drive several kilometers to the nearest beach. Tourists prefer to live near the Old Town, although you can also live by the sea.

When to go. Best time - from February to May. In autumn, hurricanes rage and floods occur.

halong

A beach holiday in Vietnam is also possible in the bay of the same name in the city of Halong. The beaches on the islets are mostly made of imported sand, and the water is often muddy, but most tourists come here to admire the wonderful islands.

There is nothing much to do in Halong city itself, except to stroll along the beautiful promenade with gorgeous views of the bay, watch the inhabitants of floating villages, admire the sunsets and climb Bai Tu Poet Mountain, which offers a panorama of the city and the bay.

When to go. The best time for excursions - from December to the end of May when dry and warm, for a beach holiday - April, May, September and October. The rainy season is from June to September. We lived in Ha Long in January, and although the sun often warmed, the cold wind did not allow the thought of a beach holiday.

catba

A picturesque green island located in the bay of Halong Bay, the largest in the archipelago. The beaches are mostly nondescript with yellowish-brown sand, but clean, free of debris and algae. The main entertainment for tourists at the resort are island cruises and excursions to the local national park.

When to go. It is stormy in Cat Ba in summer, so it is better to rest autumn.

This is a small seaside town with a densely built-up coastal strip and oil-producing enterprises. The city has beaches - narrow, with muddy and foamy water due to the close proximity to the Mekong and strong winds.

The infrastructure is developed: there are restaurants, hotels, entertainment, shops. However, even the locals prefer Long Hai or Mui Ne, where the beaches are better. If you need a good beach holiday, it is better to go to the popular resorts of Vietnam: Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Mui Ne or Da Nang.

When to go. From November to April. In winter, high waves rise, which are popular with kiters. The rainy season is from May to October.

The island is good for a secluded holiday and ecotourism, it is called the best resort in Vietnam for diving. There are unique species of plants and animals here, such as sea cows and green turtles.

The tourist infrastructure is poorly developed, there are no large shopping centers and few hotels. The island itself is rocky, most of the coast is sheer shores. In the eastern part of the island there are several sandy beaches, all sparsely populated and semi-wild.

When to go. The perfect time for a beach holiday on Con Dao December to April, for diving - from February to July.

Map of Vietnam resorts in Russian

For your convenience, we have compiled a map of all the popular resorts in Vietnam.

Where is the best place to go on holiday in Vietnam?

Each resort in Vietnam is good in its own way. Those who are thirsty for new experiences and active entertainment should go to Nha Trang, Ha Long, Hoi An and Da Nang. The islands are suitable for lovers of natural attractions and diving. For holidays with children in Vietnam, it is better to choose resorts with good 4-5 * hotels and entertainment - these are Phu Quoc, Hoi An and Nha Trang.

If you have decided where it is better to go on vacation to Vietnam, we advise you to find out when is the best time to fly there.

Vietnam is one of the "rice civilizations" with ancient Buddhist temples lost in the jungle, underground guerrilla tunnels and the richest colonial heritage, perfectly preserved from French times. Vietnam is Thailand 20 years ago, not yet trampled by millions of tourists. “Fun, bright, inexpensive” – this is how the local resort life can be described in three words. Incendiary discos until the morning, forbidden pleasures, great shopping, incredible exotic dishes ... Or a relaxing holiday with children, romantic sunsets, mountain hikes and the best photos to remember. You choose what you like.

How to get there?

It takes about 9 hours to fly from Moscow to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City by regular flights of Aeroflot or Vietnam Airlines. And this is the only moment that can confuse beach lovers in winter. Our fellow citizens do not need a visa to Vietnam. And if you want to see more in one trip, it is logical to combine a vacation in Vietnam with a visit to neighboring countries - China, Laos, Cambodia, Burma or Thailand. Where is the best place to relax - more on that later.

Which resort to choose?

If you fly now or in the coming months, then a vacation without rain is most likely in the south and in the center of the country. These are popular resorts: Phu Quoc Island, Vung Tau, Mui Ne, Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Danang. Focus on a flight to Ho Chi Minh City or Nha Trang, depending on the selected resort. January and February are “velvet” months, it is comfortable to rest, air and water are +25…+28 °С. In March and April it is hot and dry, the temperature is +30…+35 °С. In the summer months, it is better to choose the resorts of North Vietnam with a flight to Hanoi. And now we will briefly describe the most popular and rated resorts in the country, where you should go first.

Nha Trang

Nha Trang and its antipode Phan Thiet top the rating of preferences of Russian tourists. Nha Trang Bay takes an honorable 29th place in the world ranking of the most beautiful resort bays. Nha Trang (Russians from the Far East say "nishtyang") is growing and developing rapidly, new hotels of international hotel chains appear every year. Many restaurants, shops, colorful markets, a beautiful resort promenade. You won't be bored. After or instead of the beach, you can take a boat ride to the neighboring islands - look at the monkeys or hang out for the whole day in an amusement park. Temple complexes, Buddha statues, pagodas are the cultural component of the resort. And you can improve your health in local mud baths and thermal baths. There are a lot of European youth in Nha Trang, decent clubs with trendy DJs, a good selection of inexpensive alcohol. A few minuses: most of the hotels on the second line; locals come to the city beach, which is used by most tourists, in the late afternoon; after work, they like to relax here with their children. And in the summer months there are a lot of jellyfish near the shore.

Phan Thiet

The complete opposite of Nha Trang. Relaxed, democratic, inexpensive. Most of the hotels are two- or three-story cottages on the shore, comfortably hidden in palm groves. Here everyone smiles at each other, there is no crowd on the beaches, only the sea, the sun and a light fresh breeze. If flip-flops (they are also “flip flops”), shorts and a white panama are your style of relaxation, and you want to forget about the dress code at least for a while, then you are definitely here. Tourists come with children because it is inexpensive, sandy beaches and the entrance to the water is gentle. Couples find romantic sunsets and time to be together in Phan Thiet. Here, lovers of large portions of seafood with ice-cold beer are expanse, and local masseuses will make you see the "sky in diamonds" with their little hands. There are no particularly interesting sights in Phan Thiet and its environs. Tourists tired of the sun prefer to dilute their idle lying on the sand with water sports. A minus, perhaps, the only one. From the nearest airport in Ho Chi Minh City, it takes 5-6 hours to get to the resort by bus or taxi.

Mui Ne

Neighbor of Phan Thiet, this resort is loved by outdoor enthusiasts. Thanks to the constant wind, there is an ideal wave for surfers and kiters and several dozens of specialized schools with professional instructors. Prices are reasonable: an hour of windsurfing costs about $50, kitesurfing - $70. Many people speak Russian, there are several establishments where you will be treated to borscht and dumplings. True, the prices in the resort are higher than in Phan Thiet, again thanks to the large number of our tourists. On the main street of Mui Ne, spa and massage parlors, cafes and souvenir shops are at your service.

Phu Quoc

A resort island in the very south of the country, in the Gulf of Thailand, just 15 km from the coast of Cambodia. Given the size of the island (the largest island in Vietnam the size of Singapore), there is where to turn around. Active tourists choose jungle trekking, kayaking and canoeing, walking through numerous gardens and parks, and excursions to pearl factories. And diving in coastal waters is considered the most interesting and inexpensive in the country. But the main natural wealth of the island is luxurious sandy beaches stretching for many kilometers. There are still very few tourists on the island, although the infrastructure is rapidly developing. Hotels, casinos, golf courses, shopping and entertainment complexes are being built, a new airport has appeared. But today it is still a calm, clean and yet inexpensive resort. There is no better place for a quiet family or romantic vacation in Vietnam.

Vung Tau

A popular family resort 130 km from Ho Chi Minh City. It is almost as large and famous as Nha Trang, but the vibrant nightlife is missing here. But in the evening you can pass the time in bars with live music, which is a rarity for Vietnam. The beaches are wide sandy, restaurants and guest houses are now open in the former villas of the French aristocracy. The choice of hotels is also decent, for every taste and budget. Buddhist temples, pagodas, parks, the former royal residence, caves and underground tunnels - there is where to walk and what to see. There are two drawbacks: petty theft on the beaches and the presence of oil drilling platforms in the water area.

Condao

“Let's catch up and overtake Thai Phuket!” - something like this you can voice the ambitions of the Vietnamese tourism authorities on the islands of this archipelago in the South China Sea. The first description of the islands belongs to Marco Polo, and Con Son (the old name of Con Dao) got its notoriety thanks to the most terrible prison for political prisoners in Vietnam. Today it is a young resort with beautiful beaches and the best Six Senses hotel complex. Most of the island is occupied by the National Park, there are many interesting dive sites and places for fishing.

Dalat

A popular international mountain resort in the south of the country, 300 km from Ho Chi Minh City. These places are reminiscent of the French Alps with their mild climate and natural beauty. And it was built during the French colonization of Indochina as a mountain refuge from the sweltering heat. It is cooler here than on the coast, and the daytime temperature, even in the hottest summer months, does not exceed 25 ° C, and at night it drops to a comfortable 15 ° C. From November to April is the dry season, it is better to come at this time. Dalat can be compared to Bali's Ubud. Here are the best spas and massage parlors in the country, as well as several options for treatment and recovery using traditional oriental methods. These are acupuncture, Vietnamese herbal massage, Indian massage, Tibetan practices of face and body massage with warm basalt stones. And in Dalat, the best themed restaurants of Vietnamese and French cuisine. As souvenirs, tourists buy the famous luwak coffee (the palm marten has already enjoyed its grains once), artichoke tea, ceramic dishes inlaid with mother-of-pearl, and premium quality silk products. It is logical to combine Dalat with a holiday on the beaches of Nha Trang and a few nights in Ho Chi Minh City.

Da Nang and Hoi An

The most popular seaside resorts in Central Vietnam. The best season for a beach holiday is March and April. Da Nang has a modern international airport, the city is the fourth largest and industrial center of Vietnam. Nevertheless, it is very picturesque, there are several good beaches nearby, including the famous China Beach - a place of youth parties and surf stations. And 40 km away is the cozy town of Hoi An with a huge number of temples, pagodas, art salons, silk and souvenir shops. This is a city-museum, in it only 844 historical monuments are officially registered. Here you should try authentic Vietnamese cuisine and inexpensively replenish your summer wardrobe with handmade silk items sewn literally in front of you. The ancient imperial capital of the country - the city of Hue - a place of pilgrimage for tourists, lovers of history and adventure a la Indiana Jones, is located a few hours away by car from Da Nang.

halong and haiphong

Halong Bay is a very beautiful and unusual place in northern Vietnam. From Hanoi can be reached by bus or taxi in 3-4 hours (150 km). If you've watched James Cameron's movie Avatar, then the Halong rocks will remind you of the hovering blocks of the planet Pandora. Only in Halong do they bizarrely stick out of the turquoise waters of the bay. The best way to spend a few days in Ha Long is on board a wooden cruise ship. So you can swim to your heart's content in warm and clear water, visit the most beautiful and interesting places, buy authentic souvenirs in the floating village, go down to the mysterious caves on the shore and take the best selfies of your life. And don't forget to try the local delicacy - sweet and sour fish baked in sugar. Halong is also famous as the filming location for the films "Indochina" with Catherine Deneuve in the title role and "Tomorrow Never Dies" with Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. Haiphong is a cozy resort town not far from Halong. It reminds of Hanoi twenty years ago with its clean flowering boulevards, colonial houses and unhurried pace of life. In addition to good shopping, the city has many temples, inexpensive restaurants, and a decent zoo. Due to the proximity to Hanoi, Halong and Hai Phong are convenient to visit in one trip, along with a few days stop in the capital.

Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh

The description of the resorts will be incomplete without mentioning the main metropolitan areas of Vietnam, which are usually visited by almost all tourists, because they are also the air gates of the country. These cities are definitely worth attention and at least a brief study visit.

Hanoi is the capital of the country. This city will not leave anyone indifferent: old French houses are immersed in greenery, and ancient temples are two steps around the corner. Stop the cycle rickshaw and ride along the city boulevards, and in the evening go to the performance of the Theater on the Water. Have dinner at a national restaurant, and in the morning go to take a photo at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, look into the Temple of Literature and marvel at the elegance of the One-Pillar Pagoda and throw a coin into the Lake of the Returned Sword. And if you have time and energy left, go for a short trip to the mountains to the former French resort of Sapa. In one day in Sapa you can feel all four seasons, enjoy the natural beauties, see the unique Tafin Underwater Palace and the Thac Bak Silver Waterfall. And the most daring and hardy will be able to climb the highest peak of Indochina, Mount Fansipan (3,143 m).

Ho Chi Minh City, or Saigon, as it is habitually called by locals and American tourists, is the main city of South Vietnam. Saigon is interesting during the day and does not sleep at night. Colonial buildings of the last century peacefully coexist with skyscrapers, shopping malls and office buildings. You will be impressed by the former Presidential Palace, and interesting finds of local designers can be bought on Dong Hoi Boutique Street. Military history buffs will be interested in going down into the guerilla tunnels of Cu Chi, and families with children will appreciate the Mekong river trip with lunch and a visit to the snake nursery. And in the evening, it's so good to admire the bright lights and the life below, sipping a cocktail or a cool beer in the hotel's rooftop bar. And with renewed vigor go in search of "adult" night adventures after an invigorating foot massage. In terms of the number and density of bars, discos, entertainment "on the verge" Saigon is not inferior to Bangkok.

Located on the banks of the Red River. This city is one of the most attractive options for curious tourists visiting Asian countries every year.

Despite the location of the city on the river, the beach coast is at a considerable distance from Hanoi. To relax on the surrounding beaches, you need to overcome about 100 or more kilometers.

People who visit Hanoi to swim in the ocean waters and sunbathe on the beach coast should choose one of the best and most popular beaches in the urban area.

REFERENCE! Each beach is distinguished by its own characteristics, stands out with natural landscapes and has its own infrastructure.

Among them are Do Son Beach Complex, Thing Long Beach, Bai Chay City, Tuan Chau and Cat Ba Islands, the famous Halong Bay, as well as beach resorts in Dashon and Shamshon.

Do Son

The length of the beach strip called Do Son is 22.5 km. In the summer, this beach has a lot of locals and Vietnamese tourists. Pleasant fine sand and sandalwood trees growing along the river, mountain landscapes and pine hills attract everyone who wants to relax and refresh themselves in the river waters.

IMPORTANT! The salt level in the Do Son beach river is considered to be almost ideal: in such water, the skin is protected from sunburn, so you can swim in it even on a hot afternoon.

In addition, the beach complex has a rapidly developing infrastructure. Each visitor of "Do Son", if desired, can:
  • taste fresh seafood at a nearby restaurant;
  • buy delicious food and enjoy a meal right on the coast;
  • visit the casino and test your luck.

Thing Long

Another beach in the vicinity of Hanoi, Thing Long, is not large in size, its length is only 3 km. However, soft sand and casuarina trees, framing the entrance to the clear waters of the ocean, do not leave the area unattended by tourists.

It is Thing Long, located in the village of Nha Trang, that is famous for the incomparable landscapes of the Vietnamese coast.

Since this sandy corner is not affected by the hot Asian winds, the climatic conditions on the beach are especially favorable for relaxation. The summer breeze creates light waves that delight everyone who wants to surf, and also saves from the baking sun.

Thing Long does not differ in developed infrastructure, however, every visitor to the beach has the opportunity to spend time with benefit. Among the types of active recreation are:

  • canoe rental where you can see the rocky coast;
  • fishing, with which local residents from nearby fishing villages will gladly help the tourist.

City Bai Chay

Bai Chay Beach Complex, located in the city of the same name, is located near the world-famous Halong Bay. Hundreds of tourists visit the place every year.

The coast of Bai Chay is a well-groomed sandy beaches located near rocky mountains and cliffs. Transparent water and picturesque landscapes, almost untouched by human hands, remain forever in the memory of every visitor to the beach.

Despite the natural beauty of the coast, outdoor activities are provided for everyone thanks to the developed infrastructure of the town:

  • rental of water skis, surfboards, canoes;
  • Hoang Gia Park with picturesque sights;
  • royal water park, equipped with various attractions for adults and children;
  • a night market where you can buy useful and memorable souvenirs.

Tuan Chau Island

Tuan Chau Beach, like the entire island with the same name, where the sandy strip is located, attracts not only tourists and travelers.

On the coast there are modern equipped villas for a luxurious holiday for residents and guests of Vietnam.

The beach strip of Tuan Chau is quite wide, it has all the conditions for a comfortable stay for visitors.

The resort city has opened a shopping and entertainment complex for annually arriving tourists, where visitors have the opportunity to watch sea animals - seals, dolphins - on any day.

They also regularly hold laser shows, broadcast film sessions. Elite restaurants will allow each guest to enjoy exotic cuisine.
The Tuan Chau beach itself will interest all nature lovers, as on its territory there are:

  • Botanical Garden;
  • center of wild marine nature;
  • travel agencies providing the opportunity to visit Halong Bay.

Cat Ba Island

The Cat Ba beach complex on the island of the same name consists of several sandy strips on the coast of Halong Bay, connected by a cliff. Tourists have the opportunity to walk throughout the island, refresh themselves in cool and clean water.

There are enough places on the island that allow travelers to feel comfortable. Hotels, elite restaurants, cafes and bars are built near the beaches. In addition, everyone is given the opportunity to use cozy chalets and comfortable bungalows, which will make a romantic vacation unforgettable.

halong bay

The notorious Halong Bay itself is also a great option for spending time on the sandy coasts of the beaches. This corner of Vietnam is one of the most beautiful natural places on the planet.

Transparent waters, soft sand, tropical islands and rocky mountains await all travelers and beach lovers.

Each beach complex has a new infrastructure, which allows guests to:

  • rent a boat and see the paintings created by nature;
  • test yourself in diving;
  • go on excursions to the most famous corners of the planet - in Halong Bay, in a floating village;
  • try local seafood delicacies.

Coastal zone of Dashon and Shamshon

Among the less popular places on the coast of Vietnam, but also noteworthy for beach tourists, it is worth paying attention to the cities of Da Son and Chamshon.

Dashon - resort area, where beach complexes are equipped with everything necessary: each visitor can rent umbrellas, sun loungers and various types of river transport. Near the beaches there are bars, restaurants and cafes familiar to residents of megacities.

Shamshon - a small port city often overlooked by travelers. However, visitors to the beaches of Shamshon will forever remember their clear water and picturesque nature. The sandy strips are well-groomed and preserved, the level of ecology of the coast is also at a high level.

How to get there?

The beach towns around Hanoi are far enough away the road to them takes from 2 to 5 hours.

Do Son Beach, famous among residents and tourists of Vietnam, is 105 km from industrial Hanoi. At the same time, 20 km from the coast there is a large million-plus city of Hai Phong, through which it is recommended to get to the beach.

ATTENTION! Tourists have the opportunity to use public transport - a bus, or a taxi to get from Hanoi to Haiphong, and then rent a vehicle there and go straight to the beach.

Thing Long is located closer - the beach from Hanoi is only 80 km away. The best way to travel is by rented car with a driver who knows the way to Nha Trang village. An alternative budget way to travel is to rent a motorcycle or scooter, which you should get on your own, armed with a map or navigator.

To the small town of Bai Chay, the road from the capital of Vietnam stretches for about 100 km to the northeast. You can also get there by using local transport - bus, taxi, rented car or motorcycle.

Tuan Chau is located 160 km east of Hanoi. The beaches of the resort town can be reached by any land transport, you just have to prepare in advance for a fairly long road.

IMPORTANT! Halong is regularly served by tourist and public transport from Hanoi, as the bay is one of the world's attractions, where thousands of travelers visit every year. You can visit the Ha Long Islands by using the services of travel companies offering excursions to them.

The city of Dashon is located 3 hours (approximately 200 km) from Hanoi, as is the city of Shamshon. You can get to them using the services of comfortable public transport that goes directly to the cities, or a taxi.

Video review

Watch an interesting video clip about the bay and Halong Beach:

Beach holidays in Hanoi are not common, but in its vicinity, everyone has a chance to soak up the sun and plunge into the clear ocean water. It is important to calculate the time and choose the most convenient travel option, then a vacation on the coast of Vietnam will forever remain in your memory.

Resorts in Vietnam are distinguished by climate, infrastructure and atmosphere. To avoid disappointment, it is very important to correctly represent the resort where the vacation is planned.

What matters is what month you are traveling in (for example, when it is +35 in the south of Vietnam, it can be only +10 in the north), what type of vacation you like, the quality of the beaches, etc.

The best resorts in Vietnam

Nha Trang

For those who are not against city beaches, like excursions and entertainment, Nha Trang is suitable, the largest and most developed resort in Vietnam. There are many high-quality inexpensive hotels, though they are not located on the coast.

City beach in Nha Trang

As such, there is practically no first line in Nha Trang. Only the five-star Ana Mandara stands on the shore here. All other hotels are located behind the road from the beach.

In Nha Trang, about 90% of tourists relax on the city beach. It is long (7 km), beautiful, quite clean for a beach in the city and separated from the road and residential areas by a wide green area.

Promenade that runs along the city beach in Nha Trang

But often tourists who go to this resort do not suspect that there are many other beaches around Nha Trang - the most famous are Doklet, Bai Zai, Wild Beach, beaches on the islands in the bay around Nha Trang.

All these beaches are small and both externally and in spirit differ from the city. They are white sandy and bordered not by the concrete jungle, as in Nha Trang, but by real, tropical ones.

Bai Dai Beach

The season in Nha Trang runs from March to October.

Phan Thiet and Mui Ne

For those who want to live in a bungalow or hotel on the beach, love large resort areas, with many cafes, souvenir shops, excursions are suitable for Phan Thiet and Mui Ne. Almost all hotels are located here on the classic first line.

Beach in Phan Thiet

The length of the resort area of Phan Thiet and Mui Ne is quite large: 17 km. And this is only the main part - the one that is located between the city of Phan Thiet and the fishing village of Mui Ne. In fact, the beaches with the hotels standing on them stretched along the coast for 30 kilometers.

Mui Ne central beach

The beach is not the same everywhere in quality, there are wide and clean areas, and there is an almost wild, dirty beach and even places where there is a concrete parapet instead of sand. There are 3-5 star hotels on good stretches of the beach. Budget hotels and guesthouses are usually located on bad stretches of the beach.

Wild stretch of beach in Mui Ne

Of the objective disadvantages: in Phan Thiet and Mui Ne during the high tourist season (in winter) there are usually waves. In the off-season, the waves are less, but it can be cloudy, sometimes it rains. However, in such cases, swimming pools always help out. Because of the waves, the water near the coast in Phan Thiet is usually cloudy.

Those who live on the unfortunate parts of the beach usually try to swim at Mui Ne's central beach. But the specificity of this place is that there is no public beach as such, similar to the city beach of Nha Trang. Sun loungers and umbrellas can only be used by guests of the hotels standing here.

In addition, most of the passages to the beach in Mui Ne are blocked: at the entrance to most of them there is a sign "passing through the hotel is prohibited."

As a result, Phan Thiet and Mui Ne are good for those who relax in good hotels, as well as kite and windsurfers who are more interested in wind and waves. To a much lesser extent, it is convenient and comfortable for people traveling on a budget.

Phan Thiet and Mui Ne is the only resort in Vietnam where you can really relax all year round.

Phu Quoc Island

If you are planning a vacation in the style of "vacation in the tropics", then Phu Quoc is more suitable than other resorts. Phu Quoc is the southernmost resort in Vietnam, this island is located off the coast of Cambodia.

The beaches of Phu Quoc island

Rest here is relaxed and lazy, the island itself is very green. No hint of cities. Bungalow or hotel on the beach - the standard of Fukuoka.

Phu Quoc is an island. And in the beach business, this determines a lot. Near the coast here is a little smaller, the sea is calmer. Geographically, it is located almost off the coast of Cambodia. This is the southernmost resort of Vietnam - a real tropical island, 90% of which is covered with greenery.

Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam

There is also a selection of beaches here. It is here that one of the most beautiful beaches in Vietnam - Bai Sao is located. True, it mainly acts as a tourist attraction: people come here for a day to swim and sunbathe.

Bai Sao beach

The vast majority of tourists in Fukuoka stop at another beach - Long Beach. It is long, well-groomed, quite cozy and very developed in terms of tourist infrastructure.

Long Beach, Phu Quoc Island

The season in Fukuoka runs from November to April.

Hoi an beaches

For those who do not like the routes beaten, including by travel agencies, who strive for a quiet, high-quality, inexpensive vacation, Hoi Na beaches in central Vietnam are ideal.

Beaches near Hoi An

The beaches here are white-sand, clean, there are usually few people, in the season the sea is azure, there are almost no waves. There are two beaches to choose from: Cua Dai with 4-5 star resorts and nearby An Bang beach of similar quality, where you can find very high quality, small and inexpensive hotels.

There is something to see: 5 km. the ancient city of Hoi An, listed as a World Heritage Site. 30 km. Danang (which, by the way, has an international airport). Also nearby is the former imperial capital of Hue, where you can also go on a tour.

But there are other entertainments: in the sea near Hoi An there is a small archipelago of islands, Ku Lao Cham, where there is a national marine park.

Beach on the Cham Islands, Vietnam. Vacation dreams)))

There are good opportunities for diving and snorkeling, day trips here are quite inexpensive.

Snorkeling in the Cham Islands near Hoi An.

And one more photo of the beaches of Cham Island closer:

Beach on Cham Island

The season in Hoi An is from April to October.

Da Nang beaches

Da Nang has city beaches, which are actively used by locals during the season, but not particularly cozy in the eyes of a European.

The essence of Da Nang is different: in the vicinity of this city, recreation areas are being formed with a really expensive and incredibly high-quality vacation, with hotel prices of several hundred dollars per night. It is here that you can find restaurants with chefs who have Michelin stars, beautiful villas with private pools, etc.

Russians also rest here, but there are relatively few of them. The resort is also designed for very wealthy Chinese tourists.

Virtual tour of the InterConinental resort? one of the most beautiful and expensive resorts in the vicinity of Da Nang - Reviews and prices.

The season in Da Nang is from March to October.

How to choose a resort in Vietnam

Next, we will analyze the popular resorts of Vietnam from different points of view, key for recreation. But, first of all, still pay attention to the season - the most favorable time of the year for a trip - and the climate, because otherwise each of the listed resorts has its own advantages,

Choose a resort:

— Climate

Tourist seasons and weather in the resorts of Vietnam

When choosing a resort, it is very important to take into account seasonality: for example, in summer, in July-August, in Nha Trang, the high season, the sky is clear, the sea is calm, the air temperature is +33-35, the sea warms up to +30, and in Fukuoka at this time there are heavy rains, blurry roads, strong waves and gloomy skies.

An interesting feature of the seasons in Nha Trang and Fukuoka is that despite the small distance between them - only 230 km - high tourist season in Nha Trang in summer(April to October) and in Phan Thiet rather in winter(from November to April), but at the same time, Phan Thiet is really the resort where you can relax all year round.

- Availability

Distance from the airport, availability of direct flights

For many, this moment is, if not the key, then very important. There are international airports near Nha Trang (30 km from the city) and in Fukuoka. After the plane, in about half an hour, in both cases, you can already be at the resort.

Quite a different situation with Phan Thiet and Mui Ne. The resort is located 200 km from Ho Chi Minh City and, despite the short distance, this road usually takes at least 5-6 hours (about 4 at night). Immediately after a long flight, this, of course, is tiring.

Direct flights to Nha Trang are only charter flights, for example, from Anex Tour and Pegas Touristik. All regular flights to both Nha Trang and Phu Quoc are operated with connections in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi.

For example, you can fly from Russia to Hanoi on a direct Aeroflot flight, and get to Nha Trang or Phu Quoc by local airlines - this is a convenient and economical option.

— Quality of hotels

Quality of hotels, choice, features

On average, the quality of Vietnamese hotels is at a very high level. Even in budget guesthouses, air conditioners, refrigerators and Wi-Fi are not uncommon in the rooms.

The best resorts in Vietnam - in Nha Trang, Phan Thiet / Mui Ne and Phu Quoc - have hotels of any level. In terms of the number of options for luxurious conditions, Nha Trang is perhaps the leader. Fortunately, we do not need all the hotels on the coast for a vacation, just one is enough - the best.

If you have a dream of living in a bungalow on the beach, then the easiest way to realize it is either in Phu Quoc or in Phan Thiet and Mui Ne. In Nha Trang, only the five-star Ana Mandara Hotel stands on the shore. Budget options "right by the sea" can be found on other beaches around Nha Trang - Paragon, Doclet, Bai Zai, Wild Beach.

Phu Quoc Island has a certain specificity: it is extremely popular among Western tourists. And if you are planning a trip during the high season, then Good hotels are best booked in advance. They usually fill up quickly.

- Entertainment

Availability of entertainment

According to this indicator, Nha Trang has no equal among other resorts in Vietnam. Here is a huge amusement park "Winperl". Trips to waterfalls, a crocodile farm, spas and mud, excursions to nearby islands, the Museum of Experiences, salt fields and so on - all this in Nha Trang.

Cable car and boats of the entertainment complex "Vinperl"

Crocodile farm near Nha Trang

In second place in terms of the number of attractions and entertainment is Phan Thiet and Mui Ne. If you wish, there is also something to see here. The visiting card of these places is the famous sand dunes.

Dunes of Mui Ne

In addition, you can go to Mount Taka and a couple of other interesting places.

Pagoda on Mount Taku

In Fukuoka, you can also find entertainment, but in general, the main ones on the island are the beach and the sea. For those for whom this is not enough, in 2015 the Vinpearl amusement park opened its doors.

In addition, in Phu Quoc, you can go on an excursion to the national park and look at the rainforests, visit the former prison, which functioned during colonial times and the Vietnam War, and look into several local pagodas. And, of course, diving, kayaking and snorkeling.

- Vacation with children

Vietnam with a child

The opportunity to relax with children is at any of the resorts in Vietnam. But Phu Quoc and the beaches in Hoi An are most suitable for this.

There are almost no waves in Fukuoka during the season. Most hotels are located by the sea, that is, you don’t need to go anywhere, like, say, in Nha Trang to the city beach: you take two steps from the beach and you’re already in your room.

In addition, it is in Fukuoka that there are hotels that are emphatically friendly to children, for example, Famiana. The area of the sea in front of the hotel's beach is fenced, there is a small trampoline and a slide on the water, there is a playground, employees are on duty by the pool area, whose only task is to watch the children swimming in the pool so that parents can relax, and so on.

For a family holiday near Nha Trang, Paragon Beach is good, which never has waves - because of the breakwaters, it is something like a large natural pool. Not far from Nha Trang, there is a beautiful white sandy Doklet beach with family-friendly hotels.

The resort of Phan Thiet and Mui Ne also has areas that are suitable for families with children.: this is a section of the beach near the City Links hotel, closer to Phan Thiet - there are breakwaters, no kitesurfers, and slightly smaller waves. There are excellent aparthotels here, where it is very comfortable with children - there are separate bedrooms and kitchens, and the beach is suitable for swimming.

It will also be comfortable with children on the beaches near the city of Hoi An. It is quiet here, there are few people, the beaches are white sand, the sea is azure and clean during the season, and the sand is soft. There are almost no tourists on An Bang beach (there are no package tours to these places), while there are many high-quality, inexpensive hotels on the coast, which are run by Vietnamese families.

- Atmosphere

The difference between resorts in terms of atmosphere

The first thing to note is: far from all Vietnamese resorts are comfortable for Europeans. The idea of how to relax, and how the beaches should be equipped, is very different among the Vietnamese, the Chinese (who massively relax in Vietnam) and the Europeans.

When going on vacation to Vietnam, the average tourist usually chooses from three resorts: Nha Trang, Phan Thiet and Mui Ne (single resort area) and Phu Quoc island. In principle, this is correct. These are the most adapted resorts for Europeans.

Resort overview:

Resorts of northern, central and southern Vietnam: a brief description

The most popular resorts in Vietnam among Russians are Nha Trang, Phan Thiet and Mui Ne and Phu Quoc. Phu Quoc is extremely popular among Europeans, but it is less known to Russians than Nha Trang and Phan Thiet. Recently, there has been growing interest in the beaches of Hoi An and Da Nang, as well as Vung Tau.

Don't like beaten tourist routes and are looking for a quiet, high-quality, inexpensive vacation in Vietnam? Pay attention to the white sandy beaches near Hoi An (especially Ai Bang Beach) where you can find small and very high quality family hotels!

Real scale and luxury can be found on many Vietnamese beaches, one of these areas is actively developing south of Da Nang. Unlike Nha Trang, hotels in Da Nang are not behind the road, but right on the seashore.

In Vietnam, there are other less well-known beaches among Russians (Vung Tau, Da Son, Shomshon), which are much worse suited for European tourists than Nha Trang, Phan Thiet / Mui Ne and Phu Quoc. We will also consider them - for the sake of completeness.

— North Vietnam

North Vietnam resorts

Cat Ba Island (Hanoi, Halong Bay)

Cat Ba Island is located in Halong Bay, 170 km from Hanoi.

Halong Bay, Vietnam

You can relax on this island from April to October. In winter, the temperature in the northern resorts of Vietnam drops to +10, it is cold and uncomfortable there.

People rarely come to Cat Ba Island for the whole vacation, more often for a few days - for the sake of a tour of Halong Bay (although it is easy to organize such a trip from Hanoi). There are three organized beaches on the island, they are called simply: Cat Co 1, Cat Co 2 and Cat Co 3.

One of the most suitable holiday hotels here is Cat Ba Island Resort & Spais on the beachCat Co 1. In general, there are very few hotels on Cat Ba that stand near the beach, more often 10-15 minutes walk from the sea.

Townchau Island

Another island in Halong bay. It is notable for the fact that it is connected to the mainland by a two-kilometer bridge. Taunchau Island is very small - 2.3 sq. km.

From here, too, often go on excursions to Halong Bay. The beach here is conditional.

Doshon (Ðố Sơn)

Located 120 km. from Hanoi. The closest major city to the beaches of Do Son is Haiphong.

As the Do Son beach area is not developed, good hotels in the area can only be found in the city of Haiphong. The water near the coast is not very clean and muddy due to the river flowing into the sea nearby.

Do Son is popular with the Hanoi people and extremely popular with the Chinese. But they don't come here to swim. Here is a casino that works for foreigners. Doson is also the local mecca of sex tourism.

Shamshon (Sầm Sơn)

Shamshon is an old Vietnamese resort, known since 1906. During the French colonization, villas were built here.

The beach is wide and beautiful, almost 6 km long, but this is a purely Vietnamese resort with a very peculiar atmosphere. On weekends and holidays it is overcrowded with people and may look like this:

And it does not closely resemble relaxation in the European sense.

By the centenary of the foundation of the resort, the city and the resort area were modernized, the authorities invested $375,000 in development. Despite this, European tourists generally have nothing to do here.

If you are still going to Shamshon, you can stay at Dragon Sea Hotel.

Danang

Da Nang is a large industrial city, the third largest in Vietnam. It has developed rapidly in recent years. New bridges, skyscraper hotels, a wide equipped embankment are the results, including the last decade.

Da Nang is especially spectacular at night

Danang is a major transport hub, there is an international airport, railway station, seaport, bus station. For many travelers, this is just a transit city on the way to Hoi An and Hue, or as a launching pad for exploring nearby attractions (Marble Mountains, Batma National Park and others).

At the same time, Da Nang also has beaches. Holiday prices here are generally lower than in Nha Trang, but the chilly Asian atmosphere without any European adaptation is far from suitable for everyone, so this resort is not popular with European tourists. In the off-season, the beaches are empty, and in the season they are filled with Vietnamese and Chinese tourists.

Vietnamese and Chinese on the city beach of Da Nang

There are 3 city beaches in Da Nang: Bac My An, more commonly known as China beach (Bac My An, China beach), My Khe beach and Non Nuoc, which is located next to the Chinese beach.

Chinese beach in Da Nang

The quietest beach area is Non Nuoc, which has only a few 4-5 star hotels. Cozier than on city beaches, it can be on the Nui Son Tra peninsula, which is called "Monkey Mountain".

Villas at the InterContinental Danang Resort, Vietnam.

The InterContinental Hotel on Monkey Mountain has its own 700-meter beach, and the atmosphere there, of course, is different from that on the city beach.

– Central Vietnam

Resorts of Central Vietnam

Hoi An (Cua Dai Beach, An Bang)

Hoi An is known not as a beach resort, but as an open-air museum city, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The old Chinese houses of Hoi An, which now house galleries, cafes and hotels.

Hoi An is beautiful both day and night.

The city is amazingly cozy and interesting - there are 844 historical monuments here, including ancient Chinese houses, Cham and Chinese temples, etc. There are a huge number of traditional shops, souvenir shops and sewing workshops.

Multi-colored lanterns - a visiting card of Hoi An

However, a beach holiday in Hoi An is also possible: the place is very quiet, calm, and beautiful, plus there is something to see: you can go to Hoi An and Da Nang, see the islands of the Cu Lao Cham archipelago - a marine national park. It is well suited for those who like quiet, small beaches.

The nearest airport is 30 km away, in Da Nang. The best time to visit here is from April to October.

Chinese temple in Hoi an

The beaches of Hoi An are located 5 km from the historical center. There are two of them: Cua Dai beach - there are a little more than a dozen rather expensive resorts - and An Bang beach, where you can find rooms in guesthouses and inexpensive hotels. Let's talk about them a little more.

Cua Dai Beach

Cua Dai is a clean, white sandy beach, quite long - 3 km long, part of the coast is in the shade of trees - kasaurins and palms.

Cua Dai beach near Hoi An.

There are only a few resorts and guesthouses on the shore. The entrance to the sea is very gentle, the sand is fine, there are no stones, you can swim with children. There are usually very few people during the day. In the morning and evening, quite a lot of locals come to the beach.

Near Cua Dai Beach, the Thu Bon River flows into the sea, which is why the water near the coast is usually a little cloudy. Not all hotels on the coast have their own beach - in some places it is a concrete fortification. The beach on the right side of the coast was badly damaged during the typhoon and is now reinforced with sandbags.

One of the best hotels on this beach is River Beach Resort & Residences, which has an optimal price / quality ratio. You can also pay attention to Muong Thanh Hoi An Hotel, however, it is usually filled with noisy Chinese and Vietnamese tourists.

There are also several small family hotels on this beach, but they are mainly concentrated on the neighboring beach of An Bang (An Bang). Yes, most of them do not have pools, but if you go in season, then this is not a problem, because the sea and the beach are excellent.

An Bang beach

Please note that in Thailand on the island of Koh Samui there is a beach with a similar name - when planning a vacation, it is important not to confuse their description!

An Bang Beach near Hoi An

An Bang Beach is a very nice white sandy beach, which is located to the left of Cui Dai Beach, closer to Da Nang. For a quiet, relaxing holiday in Vietnam, this is probably one of the best places.

The beach is not yet overdeveloped, prices in cafes are low, there are few people, you can find an inexpensive hotel or guesthouse on the shore.

The following hotels are recommended: Tan Thanh Garden Homestay - perhaps the best in terms of price / quality ratio, Lam Hung Seaside Homestay is a very cozy family hotel, Binh Yen Homestay (Peace Homestay) is good and at the same time one of the most inexpensive (though located 700 meters from the sea).

Cu Lao Cham Islands

About two hours by ferry from Hoi An there is a stunning place - the islands of the Cu Lao Cham archipelago. The largest and only inhabited island of this archipelago is Khon Lao. Both the island and the sea are very beautiful here, the beaches are with white sand.

Cu Lao Cham archipelago, Vietnam.

The territory of Ku Lao Cham belongs to the marine national park, there are many colored fish and stunning corals. Video taken underwater near the Cham Islands.

The island has a dive center, you can rent a mask for snorkeling.

The only problem of Ku Lao Cham is the underdevelopment of the tourist infrastructure. The island has guesthouses with basic conditions and a room price of around $ 10 and small local cafes, but the beaches are essentially wild, but well-groomed:

The beach at Ku Lao Cham.

From the ports of Hoi An to Cu Lao Cham there are public ferries (travel time two hours, departure from Hoi An at 8 am, ticket price 50,000 dong, 30,000 for a motorbike, they usually try to sell a ticket to foreigners for a double price) and speed boats (a trip to a day including lunch costs $25 per person). Excursions to Hong Lao are organized in almost any hotel and travel agency in Hoi An.

The state ferry for Hon Lao departs from the port in the center of Hoi An, stopping at a small port in the village of Cua Dai.

– South Vietnam

Resorts of South Vietnam

Nha Trang

At the moment, the most visited resort in Vietnam by Europeans, including tourists from Russia.

Doclet (Zoklet)

The beach is located about 45-50 km from Nha Trang. The beach is beautiful, white sand, surrounded by jungle. The place is very picturesque, near the coast it is quite shallow, you can swim safely.

There are several resorts on the beach where you can spend your vacation, or come here for a day from Nha Trang by regular bus, taxi or rented motorbike.

Information about Doklet beach is in our

Phan Thiet and Mui Ne

The second most popular beach resort in Vietnam among European tourists. Detailed information about planning a holiday on the beaches of Phan Thiet and Mui Ne is in our

Vung Tau

Much is written about Vung Tau, but this city, perhaps, cannot be called a beach resort. This is a beautiful city with wide roads, but at the same time a large industrial center with a huge number of industrial enterprises and the oil capital of the country: oil is extracted in the sea on the shelf.

Near Vung Tayu, a river flows into the sea, upstream of which stands the multimillion-dollar metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City. And in the city there are a huge number of rats that do not hide even during the day and run along the embankments and along the beaches.

Formally, there are three beaches in Vung Tau, but only one looks like a beach in the classical sense - albeit with fabric sunbeds, old umbrellas and dense grayish sand, this Backbeach (Bãi Sau / Thui Van). Beach Bai Zau (Bai Dau / Rocher Noir / Black Stone) very small (one and a half hundred meters, stones, garbage), beach Bai Dua or "Pineapple Beach"- a narrow strip of sand and stones that runs along the road.

Vung Tau is a typical resort for locals, designed primarily for residents of Ho Chi Minh City, where they come on weekends and holidays. These days the resort is packed to capacity, prices double. On other days it is empty.

City beach in Vung Tau, a typical weekend picture. On weekdays - the same old umbrellas and armchairs, but empty.

There are white-sand beaches near Vung Tau, but they are not in the city itself, but a 15-20-minute drive from it, in Long Hai. On weekends and in the evening it also overflows with Vietnamese. Long Hai has several resorts with private beaches. For example, there is a small private beach, and. Alma is very beautiful, but the beach is public opposite. There is a private beach with sun loungers and umbrellas, but they carry it from the hotel.

Phu Quoc Island

Perhaps Phu Quoc is our favorite resort in Vietnam. There is nothing reminiscent of cities here, in the season the sea is azure, shallow near the coast, you can swim perfectly.

Our detailed guide to Phu Quoc Island can be viewed

Con Dao Island

Also, like Phu Quoc Island, it is located in the very south of the country. In terms of infrastructure, Fukuoka is still much less developed, in terms of atmosphere it is even quieter, with even fewer attractions and noisy entertainment, and, of course, there are fewer tourists here.

The big problem of the island is the extremely limited supply of hotels. We can recommend the three-star Con Dao Resort and ATC Resort, as well as a little more inexpensiveThien Tan Hotel. Fans of budget holidays will find guesthouses with basic conditions on Con Dao.

There are luxury options on the island, for example Six Senses Con Dao with a price of $700 per night for a two-hundred-meter two-story villa with a pool, ocean views, a private beach and other elements of an unforgettable vacation.

We moved to the island from Hanoi as soon as we returned from Sapa. We didn't want to stay in the dusty city until the wedding, so we went straight from the night bus, which arrived at 4 am, to the Luong Yen bus station.

A ticket from Hanoi to Cat Ba Island costs 250,000 dong ($12). The ticket includes three buses and a boat, the total journey time is about 4 hours. Buses leave at 05:20, 07:20, 11:20 and 13:30.

Cat Ba is a small island with a population of 30 thousand people. There are not many foreign tourists. Mostly Vietnamese come here for the weekend, so if you decide to go on Friday or Saturday, then book hotel rooms in advance. It's better to go on weekdays. Then, after walking a little along the embankment and haggling, a good double room can be rented for $10 per day.

Prices for food in all embankment cafes are almost the same. Local food from $1.5 per serving, seafood from $5, European food from $3.5 per serving, drinks: coffee from $1, tea from $0.50, beer $0.75.

You can walk to a clean and beautiful beach for 15-20 minutes or take a ride on an open “minibus” (electric car) running around the island for $ 0.50.

You can also rent a motorbike for $4 per day, but there is nowhere to ride it. It took us a couple of hours to circle the entire island. And in general, there is nothing to do here if you are not going to just lie as a vegetable on the beach. A good option for entertainment will be trips on excursions that are offered here at every turn. For example, in Halong Bay or the National Park. But, before agreeing to any trip, we advise you to look into several travel agencies, as prices may differ by $ 10-15!

It’s just that the Vietnamese sometimes, when they see a person of European appearance, immediately multiply the prices by two, they don’t want to bargain, they are also offended)) By the way, this principle works throughout the island! For example, in the bazaar you can buy pineapples for $0.25 apiece, when most of the sellers will impose them on you for $1. Or a two-liter bottle of water, the cost of which is $ 0.50, will be automatically offered to you for $ 0.75 - $ 1. In such cases, it is better to immediately turn around and leave, you can definitely buy from one of the neighboring sellers at a normal price.
