  • Last Minute Tours to Krasnodar region

They say that you can look at fire and water endlessly. Perhaps the crowds of tourists who have gone the hard way to the fantastic in its beauty Hell's waterfall will be a direct confirmation of this. Well, how else to explain the fact that a completely low by world standards flow of water, falling from sharp stones, literally beckons travelers of all ages to stay with it longer? So they sit, quiet, enchanted and reverently indulging in the contemplation of nature in the flesh. Well, having paid a one-two-hour tribute to the waterfall with a frightening name, they hurry on, then, on long winter evenings, to remember that rumbling rustle of water, the glare of the sun and the emerald green of moss around.

It is no coincidence that Adov waterfall is considered one of the most beautiful places in the vicinity of Goryachiy Klyuch. Of course, a certain veil of romance and spectacle is betrayed by his name, which has come from nowhere. It is said that the name of the Kingdom of the Dead was given to this stream of water because of its impressive appearance. Say, the water, which drops from a height of 12 m into a bowl several meters deep, makes a gloomy impression. And the sharp stones that break through at the top add tragedy to the overall look.

Be that as it may, but the majestic Hell's waterfall remains one of the most popular attractions of the Goryachiy Klyuch. It is located in the basin of the Chepsi River and is part of a tributary of the Adova Creek. It will be problematic for an unprepared tourist to get there on his own - it is better to go to organized excursion or find an experienced guide who will at the same time show you all the amazing natural and man-made beauty of Chepsi.

It is no coincidence that Adov waterfall is considered one of the most beautiful places in the vicinity of Goryachiy Klyuch. Of course, a certain veil of romance and spectacle is betrayed by his name, which has come from nowhere.

Well, if there is free time and desire, it is better to plan your trip so as to see several waterfalls at once, in addition to Adova. After all, this area is included in the basin of the most beautiful river Psekups, which means that in the district you can find 15 small rivers, 50 streams and as many as 22 waterfalls. Alas, getting to them is not so easy, but the more interesting the walk will be. Tourists will be expected only by reserved places, relict forests, incredible natural beauty and the most graceful waterfalls of all stripes and sizes. Don't forget about special equipment and comfortable boots

Address: Krasnodar Territory, Goryachy Klyuch, s. Fanagoria. You can get to the village by bus number 193, which runs every day from the center of Goryachiy Klyuch.

An unreasonably scary name for a cascading waterfall

On the northern slopes of the Kotkh Goryachiy Klyuch ridge, the Erik Maltseva stream originates, and there is also the Devil's Mouth (Psechiaco) waterfall. The waterfall consists of 4 cascades, the height of which is 23 meters.

Residents, as well as tourists, have trampled a forest path that goes along the Maltsev stream and leads travelers to the waterfall. The duration of the walking route is 1.5-2 hours one way .

Route scheme to the waterfall "Devil's Mouth" from the center of Goryachiy Klyuch

To go to the forest path, you need to turn from the central Lenin street, Goryachy Klyuch to Irkutskaya Division street, then walk along this street to the intersection with Shchorsa street. Further along Shchorsa street go up to the forest zone and go out onto a country road, which then turns into a trail.

This route we returned back to the city.

Route scheme to the waterfall "Devil's Mouth" from Dantovo gorge

We have planned a hiking route: Dante Gorge - Klyuchevaya town - Sapun town - Mirror Rock - Devil's Mouth Waterfall. The map shows the slopes and peaks of the vicinity of Goryachiy Klyuch.
Red arrows showing both hiking routes(from the city center, from the Dante gorge),
Psechiaco waterfall marked green bullet ,
Mirror Rock - blue bold point .

If your route follows from the Dante Gorge, then you must follow the blue markers. First, the trail leads to observation deck the Kokht ridge, and then the blue marks lead to a steep slope, straight to the foot of the Mirror Rock. At the cliff, many tourists arrange a halt, some take sandwiches with them, some with a blanket. The route is not difficult, so we saw a lot of families with children.

The rock itself makes a strong impression, on one side it is large, so if you lift your head up, it seems that it is falling on you. On the other side is the Mirror rock, very fragile to the touch. If you move your hand, it sprinkles all over.

We decided to climb to the top. Hard. Every 10 steps they stopped, the ground was not trampled down, loose. We have lost the path and it is difficult for a traveler to walk without it. After 20 minutes we found ourselves at the top, and saw the very path, as well as blue marks on the trees. It was decided to follow the marks and climb further along the already trodden road, along the ridge of Mount Koth.
It was quite crowded, a couple of times we met couples relaxing on the way, basking in the sun. We overtook three groups of tourists following the same route.

At the very top of the Kotkh ridge, an amazing panorama of the city of Goryachy Klyuch opens, as well as the valley with back side ridge. We stopped to admire the view, take a souvenir photo and bask in the first hot rays of the March sun.

I also wanted to say that in the forest, no matter how beautiful it is, traces of human activity are visible everywhere. Bags, bottles, pieces of paper, individually and in whole heaps, are scattered among the bushes and trees. It's a shame, comrades, it's a shame. But the world is not without good people. At the very top of the ridge, we met a whole family of Eco-tourists. In their hands were packages, they were collecting garbage scattered in the forest along hiking trail... I was very surprised and at the same time delighted. The forest is being cleaned, it is being watched.
At some point, blue marks began to lead us to a steep slope, and we began to descend. At that moment it seemed that the descent was more difficult than the ascent. We went down to the foot of the Mirror Rock, walked a little there and moved on until we came across the Erik Maltseva stream. Further, the path led along the stream, crossing it many times.

Walk along the stream Erik Maltseva

Early spring in the Caucasus Foothills is truly a delicate and gentle time. The forest is still bare, it is all permeated with air and transparency. The sun's rays barely touch the ground, they fall on tree branches, stumps, withered foliage that has remained since autumn. Through the fallen leaves that survived the winter, bright greens are already making their way, now dark green with shades of brown, then light green, young and fresh. On the slopes of the ridges, where the sun shines successfully on empty areas, the first spring long-awaited forest flowers bloom. Oh, how bright from them in this still half-empty forest. Bright pink, purple, free-standing white, and a bunch of blooming yellow flowers of various shapes and sizes delight the eye of travelers with their novelty and beauty.

Descending into the gorge between the hills, where a small stream begins, one of the tributaries of the Psekups River - Erik Maltseva, gives off coolness and freshness. And if at the top of the mountain the feeling of spring does not leave you, then here, in the shadow of the foothill peaks, it seems that spring has not come yet. It is cool near the water, along the water the most lively carpet of moss creeps like a soft and fluffy carpet. It is soft and moist to the touch. Ivy wraps around trees in places and covers them with its dense embrace. Deprive at the foot of the trees, sometimes gray, then dark green. Old and large trees lie fallen and forward the way. Because of this, the path sometimes disappears from our view, but the distinct marks of the hiking trail show us the way.

Finally, the path led us to the long-awaited place - a waterfall. The road exhausted us terribly, because it so happened that the supply of drinking water ran out, and light snacks were eaten at the top of the mountains.

Dear tourists, always bring enough water and food with you, even if you do not plan to walk for a long time. The forest is unpredictable and can take you far.

The first thing we did was start to greedily drink the water that flowed along the cascades of the waterfall. Cool, clean and pleasant water gave strength for the return journey.

Kaverzin waterfalls - Great option weekend hike. They are located not far from the Tambovskaya Shchel stream. This is a tributary of the Arakelova Shchel brook, and that, in turn, flows into the Kaverze River.

There are five waterfalls in total, the most famous of them is Bolshoi Kaverzinsky. It is also the farthest one - it is 5.5 km east of the village of Khrebtovoye. It is also the most picturesque waterfall in the area. Several streams descend from a height of 10.5 meters along a wide sandy-limestone layer into a vast pool; there is an exit of rocks around the waterfall.

The route to the waterfall is not difficult, does not require special preparation and equipment. It is only about an hour's drive from Krasnodar to the starting point of the hike. It is better to see the waterfalls in the spring, when they are full of water. It is more convenient to overcome the route in rubber boots - a significant part of the route runs along the river.

How to get there

On the M4 "Don" highway, 15 km from Goryachiy Klyuch, you need to turn towards the village of Khrebtovoy. There is no sign on the road, so the only landmark is a monument to soldiers by the side of the road and a picturesque pine tree next to it. Behind the monument, a dirt road begins to the left. You can leave the car right here, or you can drive a little further through the ford to the apiary and park nearby for a fee (about 100 rubles).

Turn on the Krasnodar-Dzhubga highway
Attention, the reversal is further away. But you need to turn onto a dirt road at this stop, next to it there is a stele

A dirt road and a parking lot:

On a dirt road through the forest, you will have to overcome about five kilometers. Then the road forks. A more well-worn branch goes up to the right - this is the path to Chubataya Gora, to the waterfalls - to the left to the dilapidated bridge and further to the canyon.

After a few kilometers, the trail will end and the path will have to be overcome directly along the stream bed (it is unlikely that it will be possible not to get your feet wet).

On the way to Maly Kaverzinsky waterfall

On the way to Maly Kaverzinsky waterfall

Maly Kaverzinsky waterfall will be the first in the course of the movement. He falls from a height of four meters in two steps. Directly above it, it is convenient to stop for a break and have a snack; there is also another small waterfall nearby.

From Small to Big waterfall along the channel of the Tambov gap about a kilometer of the way, but you will have to jump over the stones and overcome the ford, so you will not get there too quickly.

Big Kaverzinsky waterfall in March:

There is a small log ladder to the left of the waterfall. Climbing it and walking about 300 meters, you can meet another small stream that flows out of the University cave. Next to her there is comfortable spot for a halt, and inside the cave can be examined a few meters deep. From here you can return to the beginning of the route or go forward to Fanagoriysky.

Detailed route description

The route can be divided into two parts. The first part of the route, about 5 kilometers, goes along a well-worn forest road with several shallow fords and a slight climb, you can walk or ride a mountain bike.

The second part is walking, the approach to the waterfalls goes up the river bed in a small gorge. The trail goes along big stones, with ascents to small ledges and waterfalls.

The first part of the route begins at the exit from the M4 Don highway near the village of Khrebtovoe. The main landmark is a suburban transport stop and a monument to the Second World War ( mass grave Soviet soldiers who died in battles with the Nazi invaders in 1942-1943), between these objects there is a dirt road that goes into the forest in a southern direction. We adhere to this road, after a few tens of meters we cross the ford and move on.

Having passed the farm, we run into a fork. On both roads you can get to the waterfalls, the road on top (on the right, white markings) leads to an unknown hostel with a lake. The road is of higher quality, but it has a greater elevation difference and uncertainty in the possibility of driving through the camp site, behind the camp site it is adjacent to the marked route. The lower road (left) is indicated on the track, marked with white / blue / white markings throughout the route. On the road behind the fork, you will periodically encounter large and muddy puddles.

After 2 km, another fork, turn to the right, after the fork, after 300 meters, you need to cross the ford, the descent to the ford is heavily broken by jeeps.

After passing the ford, we move 1.5 km along the main road. We leave to the places of parking, pass several small fords, after which the road ends and rests against the gorge.

The second part of the route begins. The next 2 km can be walked only on foot, we move up the river into the gorge. The trail in the gorge winds from coast to coast, from time to time you have to go along the channel. Climbing the stones and overcoming the debris from the fallen trees. After 1 km to the right of the main channel, we meet Maly Kaverzinsky waterfall.

We continue moving up the main channel, after a few meters we meet a small waterfall, which will need to be climbed, for this a rope is tied on the left side. Having risen, we continue to move along the channel, after 1 km we rest against a wall 10 meters high, along which a wide ribbon of water flows down, this is the “Big Kaverzinsky waterfall”.

On the second part of the route (movement into the gorge along the river bed), you can lay 3 hours on the way to the waterfall and 1 hour on the way back to the road and parking lots.

Having visited the resort town of Goryachy Klyuch, you should definitely get on an excursion to the waterfalls. One of the most beautiful and at the same time the most mysterious places is Hell's waterfall. It received this terrifying name from the inhabitants due to its landscapes. Rushing water falls from sharp stones into a bowl several meters deep. The view is impressive, albeit a bit ominous. Tourists who come to the foot of the Adova Falls bring home a lot of emotions and many photographs that capture the beauty of the landscape.

Usually, tourist routes designed so that everyone can enjoy the beauty of this place to the fullest. Parking at the Hell's waterfall takes several hours.

Adov waterfall, being a tributary of the stream of the same name, is included in the Chepsi river basin. Its height is only 12 meters.

How to get there?

You can get to the place yourself. Adov waterfall is located in the village of Fanagoriyskoye in the vicinity of Goryachiy Klyuch. From the center resort town bus number 193 runs there every day.
