First of all, people come here to take a break from the city smog, from the noise and eternal bustle. But do not have any illusions about cool entertainment: there are not many noisy parties and night discos here. On the Shatsk Lakes, it is strictly forbidden to ride jet skis and boats.

The most important thing on vacation here is the right choice of the season. High season is July-August. This is due to the fact that May-June is the time of mosquitoes. • Girka tract, Gushevo... Almost all the beaches are given to tourist centers, so they are well cared for.

If you are an avid fisherman, rest on the Shatsk Lakes is just for you. There are many species of fish (trout, shuki, Canadian catfish, Amur carp, pike perch), but especially a lot of eels. This is the most popular fish in the area. If you haven't brought your gear with you, don't worry: you may be supplied by the locals, or you can buy gear from the market. Even in winter there are no fewer fishermen here.

It is difficult to imagine a summer vacation here without picking up mushrooms and berries: wild strawberries and blueberries, which are very popular here (15-20 UAH / liter). Harvested in July-August, dried for tea or canned. And in the fall, you will be offered blackberries, lingonberries and marsh cranberries, which are rich in vitamins.

The most important place for leisure is the beach. Here you can rent a boat or catamaran (20 UAH / hour), take lessons or rent equipment for windsurfing and diving, take a horse ride (15-100 UAH / hour) or bike rides. Choosing housing

If you decide to go on vacation for the first time, go on the recommendation, having booked accommodation in advance. If there are no recommendations, it will be necessary to determine the place, therefore it is better to arrive in Shatsk in advance in the afternoon, and not in the evening.

You can either order food from the owners, or in a cafe, or prepare yourself. Products in Shatsk are affordable, but the assortment is not abundant. Therefore, it is better to take non-perishable food with you. You will be pleasantly surprised by the local cuisine rich in fish dishes. Each hostel boasts a barbecue, which is convenient for barbecuing or grilling fish. Local donuts with different fillings are very tasty (5 UAH), this is a local specialty. If you decide to eat in public catering, the doors of local restaurants, pizzerias and cafes are open for you.

In addition to recreation centers and private cottages, it is possible to spend the night on Shatsk lakes in tents in campsites (Gryada level and Svityaz village). This is an economy class vacation, the cost of an overnight stay for one tent and a parking space is from 10-20 UAH / day. Description of Shatsk Lakes

Shatsk lakes are located within the Volyn region and are known for their purest water and a wide variety of the water world. They are part of the Shatsk Nature-National Park. These are natural lakes that are fed by groundwater and rainfall, and some of them are connected by canals. Large shatsky reservoirs include Lake Svityaz, Pulemetskoe, Lucimir, Luke, Ostorovianskoe, Krymnoe and Pesochnoe. The largest of them is Lake Svityaz, which occupies 27 km2 of the area. The main advantage of the lake is the forest area (pine forest) around it. The lakes are dominated by such fish species as perch, pike, pike perch, roach, crucian carp, carp, eel. But besides these, there are also representatives of artificially neglected fish, such as the Chud whitefish, trout fish, and Canadian catfish. Each of the lakes is unique in nature! In one it is better to swim, in the other there is a lot of fish, in others, the picnic will be just that.

Rest on the Shatsk lakes

Shatsk lakes have long been of interest to tourists and vacationers from all over our country, thanks to the wonderful nature, clear water and other attractions. I come here to swim, sunbathe and fish. There are a large number of sanatoriums and recreation centers, because the lakes are located far from industrial settlements that emit harmful substances into the atmosphere. In addition to the rich water world of the lakes, here you can also find an abundance of wild ducks and swans, which can be fed directly from the shore. The summer season for recreation on the Shatsk lakes is in demand, and this is not surprising, because in winter the lakes freeze over and are suitable only for winter fishing. For recreation, you can rent housing in the private sector or in a recreation center. Housing prices are moderate within 100 - 200 UAH / day per room.

As mentioned above, the nature of Shatsk Lakes is unique. The cleanest water, fresh air, abundance of fish and birds attract many people to rest. But there is also some unpleasant news. For example, every year poaching fishing here destroys a large number of fish, as a result of which the natural balance of the water world is disturbed. Also bring an unpleasant, untidy look to the environment and the vacationers themselves, who forget to clean up after themselves after their rest. Although there are not very many of them, it is nevertheless a fact.
Nevertheless, despite these unpleasant facts, to come here on vacation with a family or a friendly company, get a lot of emotions and a positive mood is the best thing that you can do in the summer. Dense vegetation, birdsong, cheerful companionable laughter, barbecue and fishing, all this can be organized and obtained on the Shatsk lakes.

A large number of recreation centers are located on the lakes, there are hotels, and also almost all local residents rent out their homes. Before the trip, we agreed on an overnight stay by phone. For a double room with private facilities 70 meters from the lake, they paid $ 17 per day. In Svityaz, where we stayed, there is also a modern hotel (http://lemark.com.ua/), near which there are always big buses.

There are no problems with food, several restaurants in Svityaz are located along the road. There are quite good ones in the very center of Shatsk, where we ate several times.

Despite the fact that the village of Svityaz is 3 times smaller than Shatsk, which is a regional center, it is located on the shore of the lake and from the shore you can watch a very beautiful sunset, which is also a kind of attraction.

Recreation options on the Shatsk lakes are very different. Swimming, fishing, mushroom picking, forest walks, etc. We were primarily interested in cycling. Despite the fact that bicycles are rented in many places, we could not find them on site, as all were already rented. They found some phones on the Internet, began to ring and as a result were able to agree on 4 bicycles for the next day. Therefore, advice - if you want to ride, then search the Internet in advance for phones and book bicycles.

As it turned out, the Shatsk Lakes are a good place for cycling. First of all, thanks to the absolutely flat landscape. Good but not perfect as there are no dedicated bike paths. We drove around Svityaz, it is 32 kilometers. The road from Svityaz to the end of the village of Pulmo is ideal, there are practically no cars.

Immediately behind the last house of the village, on the left, there is an interesting object - the URAN-3 radio telescope (wikimapia).

We saw many well-groomed horses and many stork nests.

From here the road is good again, but part of the way will need to go along the highway, through Shatsk. We were very pleased with the trip, so we strongly recommend Shatsk Lakes to bicycle lovers. Yes, we ourselves will come here again.

How to get there: An excellent Warsaw highway leads from Kiev to the Shatsk lakes (turn to the lakes in Lyuboml). We drove from home to home in 6 hours with two stops of 10 minutes each (550 km). There is no direct road from Lviv. GPS will lead you through Chervonograd along a 220 km route, but you don't need to go there, as there is practically no road. You need to go through Dubno, Lutsk and Kovel (370 km).

By train you need to get to Lutsk or Kovel and from there take a minibus to Shatskikh. Better from Kovel.

Shatsk lakes- a group of more than 30 lakes in the Lyuboml and Shatsk districts of the Volyn region, in the interfluve of the Pripyat and the Western Bug.

Shatsk lakes are located among forests, in which a large number of sanatoriums and recreation camps have been built. To protect rare natural complexes in the Shatsk Lakes region, the Shatsk Natural National Park with an area of ​​32,500 hectares was created in 1983.

The territory on which the lakes are located is called the Shatsk Lake District. The largest of the Shatsk lakes are Svityaz (27.5 km, the second largest natural reservoir in Ukraine after Lake Yalpug), Lake Pulemetskoe (16.3 km), Luke (6.8 km), Lyutsimir (4.3 km), Ostrovianskoe lake (2.5 km), Crimean (1.44 km), Sandy lake (1.86 km).

Lake Svityaz

The area of ​​Lake Svityaz is 25.2 square kilometers. The length of the lake is 9.3 km, the maximum width is 8 km. The maximum depth is 58.4 m. The volume is about 180 million m?. Approximately in the middle of the lake there is an island with an area of ​​about 7 hectares. The lake warms up well in summer and, having clear water and a gently sloping sandy bottom, is popular with vacationers.

The "Shatsky king" does not trust any river with the thread of his life. The lake is fed exclusively by underground sources. Even Baikal, into which more than 300 rivers flow, can envy such "recharge". Svityaz is one of the deepest lakes not only in Ukraine: it is deeper than the Sea of ​​Azov and the famous "sea eye of the Carpathians" - Sinevir, the famous Hungarian Balaton and the Polish lake Snyardvy. In terms of area, Svityaz is second only to some lakes in the lower reaches of the Danube in Europe. Its waters are so clean and transparent that the bottom can be seen at a depth of eight meters.

The shores of the Shatsk lakes are low, gentle, composed of sandy-pebble and biogenic material; there are wetlands. The lakes are nourished by precipitation and groundwater, as well as by water exchange through the canals that connect some of the lakes. In summer, the water in the lakes warms up well, in winter the lakes freeze. Mineralization of water is moderate or reduced, its value ranges from 75-125 to 200-250 mg / l. The color of the water changes from yellowish green in shallow lakes to emerald green in deep ones. The bottom is covered mainly with sandy-silty sediments, peat and sapropel silts.

In the Shatsk Lakes, perch, roach, pike, bream, crucian carp, box, catfish, loach, eel are found; Lucimira and Black Big Lake - pike perch and Amur carp). Most lakes are inhabited by crayfish. Fish farms have been set up near the lakes, for example, a pond and fish farm with a breeder called "Ladynka".

Shatsk Lake District is a plain within the Polesye lowland. Its central part is characterized by the spread of lacustrine karst basins, which formed in the Cretaceous sediments. The lakes lying in the middle of bog landscapes have arisen as a result of the accumulation of aluvium and an increase in the level of groundwater, provided that the territory is slightly sloped and there is no constant runoff.

The shores Shatsk Lakes are nesting places for waterfowl (wild ducks and geese, swans, etc.). Most of the Shatsk Lakes are part of the Shatsk Natural National Park, they are also the base for scientific research of the Lviv University and the Lutsk Pedagogical Institute.
