Thus, the tourist infrastructure of the resort gradually developed.

Another temple was erected in Malgart de Mar, the Torre d'en Riera (a sixteenth-century tower) was also built here, and there are palaces and villas created in the Art Nouveau direction. In Castel Park there is an observation terrace, in Pineda de Mar there is the Can Jalpi Palace.

In the center of the Costa del Garraf is the popular resort of Sitges. This is a fairly large town with a well-developed tourist scene. Most hotels here are awarded 4 stars. You can go shopping not only in Barcelona. The resort has many fashion boutiques. In general, this place can hardly be called cheap.

Sitges is not the only resort in Garraf; you can stay here in Villanueva i Geltru, Cubellas and other places. Windsurfers will appreciate Castelldefels.

The resorts of Costa de Maresme and Garraf are suitable for both beach holidays and wellness. This is facilitated by clean mountain air, clear Mediterranean waters and a favorable climate.

Deserves special attention! Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia, a city with centuries-old traditions. History is preserved here in both Gothic cathedrals and Art Nouveau mansions; almost all of the most memorable buildings in the city were made by the architect Antonio Gaudi. All this is worth seeing with your own eyes.

Plaza Catalunya is the largest square in Barcelona. It is a square surrounded by banks, government offices and shops. It is an ideal meeting place for travelers, shoppers and tourists. Next to Plaza Catalunya, Rambla street begins, it is similar to our Arbat, but much livelier and more interesting! There you will meet street mimes and sellers of flowers and souvenirs. There is even a small part where they sell animals. While walking, you can sit down to have a bite of paella and drink sangria in any street cafe.

If you turn left (or right, depending on where you are moving) from Rambla into any alley, you will find yourself in Gothic Quarter. This quarter serves as the main historical center of Barcelona. It is located approximately where a walled Roman settlement was located in ancient times. You will see the indescribably beautiful facades of the cathedral, city hall and town hall, it’s not for nothing that this place is one of the most popular in Barcelona.

Next you should take a walk around Park Guell. Park Güell is a masterpiece by Antoni Gaudi. Right at the entrance to the park there is a “gingerbread house”, and almost immediately behind it is the symbol of Barcelona, the lizard. Also in the park is the world's longest bench inlaid with mosaics in the shape of a intricately writhing snake. It can seat 5,000 people at the same time. This is the largest bench in the world. The curves of the bench are designed so that those sitting on it feel like they are in a secluded corner. When creating the seats, Gaudí forced workers to sit in a cast without pants so that the seats took an anatomical shape.

Sagrada Familia(or Church of the Holy Family) is a church in Barcelona, which, perhaps, is in every photograph of a tourist who has visited Barcelona! This is a church whose construction was started by the famous architect Gaudi back in 1884. Financing of the construction was initially planned only through donations from parishioners, therefore, the construction period was expected to be considerable.

Almost 35 years later Sagrada Familia was not yet completed, but Gaudi died, without completing the main project of his life. 126 years have already passed since the start of construction, five generations of residents Barcelona contemplated the unhurried construction of a masterpiece, but the construction is still not completed. Builders and architects continue to build the masterpiece, and soon plan to demolish an entire nearby block to build a huge grand staircase to enter the church.

We can talk and talk about Barcelona, but it’s better to see it with your own eyes and feel this city! Therefore, we suggest spending time on the beach resorts of Spain:

Costa Brava

One of the most beautiful coasts of Spain. With its secluded bays, pine groves, stone cliffs and interesting history, it is rightfully one of the leaders in attendance among resorts in Spain. This is where the most beloved resorts by Russians are located. The amazingly beautiful combination of sea and mountains gave this region its name - translated from Spanish as “rocky coast”. The Costa Brava is an exceptionally suitable place for walking, driving, cycling, water sports and exciting excursions. From here you should definitely visit the fortified city of Carcassonne in France, the monastery of Montserrat to bow to the “Moreneta” or “Darkie”, as the Catalans lovingly call the patroness of their lands, who fulfills human desires as soon as you touch her. Here you can also try the most delicious cheese, cottage cheese, honey, produced from time immemorial at the foot of the mountain range where the monastery is located, and brought for testing and sale to pilgrims. Costa Brava is unthinkable without the world of Salvador Dali, whose museums and castle are located here, and, of course, without Barcelona - in my opinion, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, where the world's largest number of Art Nouveau buildings and world-famous architectural masterpieces of Gaudi are concentrated : Expiatory Temple of the Sagrada Familia, Park Güell... It would take a long time to list the sights of Barcelona, walking around this city is endless, but having arrived once, you want to come back here again and again.

The Costa Brava stretches for 200 km along the seashore and, like a canvas, consists of towns passing into each other. The most popular among Russian tourists are Tossa de Mar, Lloret de Mar, Blanes.

Tossa de Mar

- the most picturesque city of the Costa Brava, since the early 20s of the last century it has been known as a holiday destination for wealthy Europeans. Here is located one of the best VIP hotels on the entire coast, with a magnificent view of the bay and the old fortress. The hotel is designed for a comfortable stay with the opportunity to combine relaxation with wellness treatments.

Lloret de Mar

Lloret de Mar is the main tourist center of Catalonia. There are hotels for every taste, but for those who want to relax in peace and quiet, it is better to bypass this town: the entire city center is full of shopping tents, shops and numerous nightclubs, discos, restaurants and bars.

For youth recreation, we can recommend hotels: (located in the very center and completely reconstructed) and (a more budget option, but very worthy).

Costa del Maresme

- part of the coast stretching from the Costa Brava to Barcelona. The main feature of this place is the presence of a railway that separates the resort villages from the sea. But this is by no means a disadvantage of the resorts - electric trains are silent, and you can get to Barcelona in an hour; and in order to get to the beach, you just need to walk along the passages that are built every 300 meters. The largest towns on this coast are Santa Susanna and Calella.

The Maresme region, formerly also known as the Costa del Levante (eastern coast), includes part of the Catalan coastline, stretching for 50 km. Thanks to its geographical position and proximity to the mountains, the Costa del Maresme has a favorable Mediterranean climate, clear skies and 275 sunny days a year. The balance between sea, valley and mountains defines the soft and moist landscapes of this area, where there are abundant pine and coniferous forests scattered along the hillsides, as well as vast areas of cultivated land. The Sierra Litoral mountain range, formed by the San Mateu, Corredor and Montenegre ranges, offers landscapes of extraordinary beauty.

Archaeological finds dating back to ancient cultures testify to the rich historical past of the Costa del Maresme-Barcelona: along this coast there was a pillar road that connected the Spanish province with the capital of the Roman Empire, as evidenced by the column discovered in the town of Vilaszar. The first mentions of the existence of settlements here date back to the 10th-11th centuries and speak of villages located far from the coast, from which fishing settlements were later formed, which over time turned into independent regions.

The raids of pirates from North Africa during the 16th and 17th centuries led to the construction of observation and watchtowers, some of which can still be seen today. Rapid development during the Middle Ages was marked by the construction of a large number of castles and churches, but this region received a real impetus for growth only after the success of navigation and the subsequent establishment of trade relations with the American continent, in which people from the coastal cities of the Costa del Maresme took an active part, showing themselves as shipowners, captains and shipbuilders.

Historical dependence on Barcelona, convenient transport links and a favorable climate influenced the development of this coast as a place of country residences and a tourist area much earlier than other areas of Catalonia. This can be seen in the buildings that are often found here at the end of the 19th century and served for these purposes. Wide beaches of coarse sand alternate along the entire coastline with small bays, where excellent conditions are created for water sports.

In various coastal towns of this unusual Spanish resort you will find pleasant corners, varied cuisine and a high-level tourist infrastructure. The zones of influence are distributed equally between the “seaside” cities, such as El Masnou, Vilaszar, Mataro, Arench de Mar and Calella, and the “mountain” ones, among which Alella, Argentona, Tordera, etc. stand out. All this makes it possible so that tourism in the northern part of the coast from Malgrat de Mar to Calella, where most of the hotels are located, is the driving force for the harmonious development of the region.

Costa de Almeria, Costa Azahar.

Location of the coasts of Spain

Costa Brava

This is the northern part of the Mediterranean coast of Spain, which begins 60 kilometers north of Barcelona (from the city of Blanes) to the border with France.

Costa Brava literally means “Brave, Wild Coast”, sometimes it is translated as “Sheer, Rocky, Steep Coast”. Costa Brava is rightfully considered one of the most picturesque places on the coast. Here the mountains descend to the sea, and the sea, with narrow bays, cuts the coast into several small cozy beaches.

The recognized capital of the resort is Lloret de Mar, a pretty seaside town located 80 km from the city of Barcelona and 39 km from the city of Girona.

Blanes- one of the most famous seaside resorts on the Costa Brava. Over the past decades, it has turned into a major tourist center with a relatively quiet and cozy atmosphere, which does not prevent it from remaining a city of eternal celebration.

Tossa de Mar is rightfully considered the most beautiful and green part of the Costa Brava. The extensive city beach is bordered on one side by rocky shores, where sea cliffs form deep grottoes, narrow straits and secluded coves. On the other hand, from the city beach is one of the most famous national monuments of the Costa Brava - the medieval fortified city of Vila Vella ("Old Village").

Climate

The climate in the Costa Brava is mild throughout the year. Rain in the Costa Brava, both in winter and summer, is not uncommon, and this may explain the abundance of greenery. The highest rainfall in the Costa Brava occurs in September and October. The swimming season begins at the very end of May; in October there is no swimming in the Costa Brava. Snow is a common occurrence in winter. The best months for a holiday on the Costa Brava are from May to mid-September.

Thanks to the gentle sea conditions and mild climate, the Costa Brava is a real paradise for lovers of sailing and other water sports.

How to get there

Thanks to a well-developed transport system from Tossa de Mar, you can easily visit the neighboring coastal resorts by using shuttle buses or taking a boat trip.

Along the Mediterranean coast of the province of Alicante, the “white coast” of Spain stretches for 212 kilometers - Costa Blanca- one of the main tourist centers of the country. And about half - 101 kilometers - is a strip of fine sandy beaches.

Costa del Sol

The Costa del Sol, translated from Spanish as "Sunny Coast", is the southernmost Mediterranean coast of Spain, stretching from Malaga to the Strait of Gibraltar.

The resorts of the Costa dnl Sol enjoy a worldwide reputation as the most prestigious and fashionable holiday destinations on the Spanish coast.

The mountains protect the coast from northern winds, so the Costa del Sol is not cold in winter. And in summer there is no sweltering heat, as in the central regions of Andalusia: the Costa del Sol is cooled by the breeze blowing from the sea. The coastal climate is considered the best in continental Spain.

Capital of the coast- city of Malaga. The informal capital and chic resort is Marbella.

Climate

The “summer season” on the Costa del Sol lasts from June to September. The hottest days occur in July and August: during the day in the sun the air usually warms up to 31°C. At night, the temperature does not drop below 20°C. The Mediterranean Sea in summer near the Costa del Sol may seem somewhat cold (+20-24°C).

Winter, in our understanding, does not exist on the Costa del Sol. From December to February, the weather resembles the fine days of early autumn: in the sun it is warm (up to 20°C, and sometimes higher), in the shade it is also not particularly cold (17°C).

On the streets of Cadiz you can feel the breath of the sea - after all, the city is located on a peninsula, which is connected to the coast only by a narrow strip of land. Cadiz is strictly divided into two parts. The new city moves away from the sea inland, and the Old City is located at the end of a long nine-kilometer spit protruding into the sea. In Cadiz, the baroque splendor of churches coexists with a bustling port quarter, and spacious neoclassical squares coexist with ancient castles and a fortress. There are magnificent promenades and excellent beaches right within the city. By the way, picturesque beaches, bordered by pine trees and sand dunes, stretch along the entire Costa de la Luz.
